History

A daily point for the numbers that matter — pipeline, money owed, unbilled work, open tickets, utilization, project burn, recurring revenue, client health and prepaid hours — saved every night, so any of them can be charted over time with no setup.

Most numbers in Insights are right now: what is open, owed or unbilled at this moment. History keeps a point for each of them every night, so you can see how they moved — "Unbilled WIP, last 12 months" is an ordinary widget, and nobody has to remember to export anything.

What is kept#

Every night AspirePro saves the day's figure for:

History metric

Each uses exactly the same rules as the live metric of the same name in the metrics catalog — the same clients' billing rules for WIP, the same hours rule as the project page for burn — so a history point and the live tile never disagree on the day it was saved. Percentages are always worked out from the totals (all billable hours ÷ all capacity you can see), never by averaging percentages.

Adding a history widget#

Add a widget and pick one from the History group. Choose the period (the last 12 months by default), then Show:

  • Over time — one point per day for up to three months, one per week for up to two years, one per month beyond that (the last saved day of each).
  • By client, by board, by stage… — the latest saved day in your period, split that way.

History widgets have no drill-through: a past day has no list of records behind it. Open the live metric to see the records today.

Who sees what#

Every history point is built from the rows you may see today, exactly like the live metric. Someone who can open two of five boards sees the open-ticket history of those two boards; someone without access to a private project never sees its burn; money (owed, WIP, recurring revenue) needs the same finance permission as the live tile and otherwise shows "Hidden for you". Dashboard filters for client, project and person narrow history too, and can never widen it.

The person a ticket or deal is assigned to is kept as a label so you can split by it; it never decides who can see the ticket.

Client health history uses the clients that counted for health on each day, so the trend follows your health score settings as they were at the time.

When points are saved#

  • A day is saved shortly after 2:00 in the morning in your organization's time zone, labelled as the day before.
  • Recurring revenue and client health wait for the nightly agreement and health runs to finish (after 06:15 UTC). For organizations east of UTC, that day's point can include the early hours of the next morning.
  • History keeps being saved while Insights is switched off, because missed days can't all be recovered later. A metric whose own feature is switched off (Tickets, Sales, Finance…) isn't saved while it is off.
  • If a night is missed, that day shows as a gap in the chart — never as zero — and the widget says "No history for some days in this period." A day that was saved with nothing in it reads as 0.

How long it is kept#

Daily points are kept for two years. After that, one point per month is kept (the last saved day of each month), so long trends never disappear.
